    Introduction

Cultural appreciation is an indicator of urbanism.  Equipped of better means and education, the people of Hong Kong, Macau and the Pearl River Delta region are scrambling for more sophisticated form of enjoyment.  The cities are all trying hard to build up their cultural districts to serve the people better.  But can we get something more from attending cultural events – aesthetics and architectural appreciation, life-long inspiration, community building, social integration, humanitarian concerns, good food and relaxation and so on?  Planning experts from Hong Kong, Macau and Shenzhen will share with us their visions, ideas and enthusiasms on development of cultural district.
