Tentative Outline of the Seminar Shanghai Expo – Master Planning Heritage buildings on the Expo Site: Conservation, Reuse and Integration Planning Issues and solutions
About the Speaker Prof. WU Jiang, Planner and 1st Class Registered Architect of China, is currently the Vice President of Tongji University, Shanghai. He is the Vice Chairman of Shanghai Architecture Society, and the Steering Council Member of the Architecture Society of China (ASC), as well as the honorary member of Sculpture Society of China (SSC). He is also the editorial committee member of several top academic journals such as TIME + ARCHITCTURE (Tongii University), WORLD ARCHITCTUM (Tsinghua University), URBAN PLANNING FORUM (Tongji University) and PUBLIC ARTS (Shanghai University). Prof. WU has been teaching History and Theory of Architecture, Urban Design, and Historical Preservation in Tongii University from 1986 to 2003; a visiting scholar in the University of Hong Kong from 1993 to 1994; a senior visiting scholar in the Graduate School of Design of Harvard University from 1996 to 1997. In the past 20 years, Wu has published more than l0 books and more than 60 articles in his research fields on western architect history and theory, as well as Shanghai modern city architecture history and built conservation study. From 1998 to 2001, he was the Deputy Dean of the College of Architecture and Urban Planning in Tongji University, and from 2001 to 2003, he was the Assistant President of Tongji University. From 2003 to 2008, Professor Wu was the Deputy Director General of Shanghai Municipal Urban Planning Administration Bureau.
