HKIUD
The Hong Kong Institute of Urban Design (HKIUD) was launched on June 17, 2010 at the FCC. Secretary for Development Mrs. Carrie Lam was the Guest of Honour, showing Government support for the new Institute which is also represented in the newly formed Harbourfront Commission.

The General Council of the HKIUD includes Prof. Bernard Lim (President), Dr. Sujata S. Govada (Vice President of International Affairs), Dr. Peter Cookson Smith (Vice President of Professional Development) and Vincent Ng (Vice President of Public Affairs), Prof. John Ng (Hon. Secretary) and Charles Li (Hon. Treasurer). Stephen Tang, Ivan Ho, and Bernie Harrad are the Council Members; Dr. Mee Kam Ng of HKU and Hendrik Tieben of CUHK are the Academic Representatives.
The HKIUD has the following objectives :
To promote urban design excellence in education, research and practice
To promote education and research in urban design
To establish professional qualifications for urban designers
To accredit the urban design curriculum of University courses
To create a platform for information sharing on urban design issues in Hong Kong and the region
To strengthen the communication between urban designers
To promote continuing professional development of urban designers
To promote urban design standards and services
To promote the community’s awareness of the value and need of urban design
To provide mentorship / advisor system to younger urban designers, graduates and students.
