    Shanghai Expo 2010 Seminar – Pavilions of Denmark, Korea & Singapore

      
    To enhance our understanding on the Shanghai Expo, the HKIP is organizing a series of seminars for interested members.  This time, we are very honored to have invited the Associate Director of Ove Arup & Partners Hong Kong Limited, China, Mr. Andrew Luong, to share with us his experience of the development of Pavilions of Denmark, Korea and Singapore.  Details of the seminar are as follows:

    Outline:
    1) themes of the three Pavilions in relations to the theme of Expo and their relationship to the planning of the Areas they are situated;
    2) design characteristics of the three Pavilions; and
    3) the challenges, issues relating to developing these Pavilions in an international event from a Project Management point of view.
     

    Background of Mr. Andrew Luong:
    Mr. Andrew Luong heads the Arup structures team in Shanghai.
    Andrew joined Arup after graduation and has worked in Australia, Hong Kong, London, and now China.
    He has a diverse portfolio of project experience in structural engineering, ranging from super-highrise buildings to long span complex steel structures.
    Recently completed projects of more notable recognition include the China Central Television (CCTV) New Headquarters, Beijing National Convention Centre, City University Multi-Media Building, Rajiv Gandhi Airport in Hyderabad.
    His current projects include the Seoul Performance Arts Centre, and super-highrises in Chongqing and Tianjin. Mr Luong has strong interests in geometry and architecture, which is often reflected in projects he undertakes.
