Development of New Town Seminar

  • HKIP Office HKIP office, Unit 201, 2/F, Prosperity Millennia Plaza, North Point (map)

The New Towns programme in Hong Kong began in the early 1970s. It extended the horizon of urban development for Hong Kong. There are now 9 new towns, housing nearly half of our population with quality living environment. Each and every new town is equipped with ample community facilities, open spaces and railway and highway connection. Attempts have been made to achieve good urban design. However, there are still room for improvement for some of the new towns.  The Education and Training Committee has invited the Assistant Director/Territorial of the Planning Department to share with us the recent experience of the Government.  During the talk, the speaker will offer an overview of  the evolution and changes of New Towns over the past 40 years and using the example of the North East New Territories New Development Areas to illustrate the innovative ideas for new town development in the future.

Don't miss the chance !
