Although the concept of co-housing in Hong Kong remains in its early stage, the city has seen a few co-housing projects. Could co-housing be the future and an alternative to address housing issue for Hong Kong’s youth? The Young Planners Group (YPG) is conducting a research project called "Co-housing for the Youth” which attempts to study models of cohousing in Hong Kong for the youths, and in what ways cohousing could bring benefits to the youth. To substantiate our research analysis, we have conducted questionnaire surveys and interviews in the past few months to gauge views from the young population and key stakeholders on cohousing.
On October 6, the YPG and Urban Research Group, Department of Public Policy, City University of Hong Kong are co-organising a topical workshop on “Co-housing for Youth”. The workshop will introduce the initial findings from the YPG on the topic followed by a discussion for members to exchange views and discuss issues related to co-housing for youth with the youth and general public in order to formulate a suitable co-housing model for youth.
You are cordially invited to join this workshop and share your thoughts with other participants. The dialogue will take a multi-disciplinary approach to encourage ideas from various perspectives.
