[Guest Seminar] Urban and Regional Planning for New Growth in Greater Bay Area Era (10 January 2019)

Speaker: Dr. Tang Yuanzhou, Secretary General of Guangdong – Hong Kong – Macao Research Center of China Academy of Urban Planning and Design (CAUPD) The speaker will try to elaborate on urban and regional planning in the Guangdong – Hong Kong – Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) in pursuit of new growth against the changing international and domestic environment, along with his understanding on the shifted term from ‘Greater Pearl River Delta’ (GPRD) to GBA. He will place analysis on the planning and development progress through the case of strategic areas in the region. Furthermore, observation on urban growth and regional integration at different stages with diversified planning approaches will be addressed, which indicate different development patterns and methods on the same theme of Guangdong – Hong Kong – Macao regional cooperation. Meanwhile, implication of policies and implementation of plans will be highlighted, to shed light on the development trend of the region. Inspired by other experts’ talk in various occasions, the speaker would like to suggest that there should be more multi-discipline and cross-sectoral joint planning efforts in the new context of Greater Bay Area.

The seminar will be conducted in English. Q&A session will be in English/Cantonese.
