Visit to ICAC Exhibition Hall and Integrity Building Seminar

Planners play an important role in the success of the construction sector in Hong Kong.  In recent years, the integrity standard of the development sector is facing tougher scrutiny, from media as well as the general public, than ever.  Planners nowadays are expected to not only possess professional knowledge and practise high integrity, but also have a good understanding of anti-corruption laws, regulations and practices.

The HKIP Education and Training Committee is collaborating with the ICAC to organize this event to update and broaden members’ understanding of the current work of ICAC.  This seminar will illustrate, through relevant corruption cases, the anti-corruption legislation in Hong Kong, the probity requirements of the government’s consultancy agreements and points to note in managing relationship with public servants, and the risks inherent in the handling of confidential information of high commercial value during a planning study.   Corresponding preventive measures will also be introduced to help participants prevent or mitigate the risks identified.   Another highlight of the event is a guided visit to the ICAC exhibition hall which showcases milestone corruption cases and ICAC’s anti-corruption strategies to meet the evolving needs of the Hong Kong society.

Key topics to be covered:

1.      Probity clauses in government’s consultancy agreements

2.      Receipt of gifts and entertainment

3.      Soliciting advantages for others

4.      Managing relationship with public servants

5.      Corrupt dealings outside Hong Kong

6.      Misuse of information obtained from planning studies
