Urban Farming Sharing Session

The Education and Training Committee of the HKIP would like to cordially invite you to a sharing session on Urban Farming.


Urban Farming is a very interesting topic and is getting more and more popular in Hong Kong. 

Two experts and pioneers in the field has agreed to share with our members their experiences and views on its future development.  It will be most beneficial for our members to learn more about the valuable practical experience on the day-to-day management and operation of an urban farm.   In particular, the Vegetable Marketing Organisation (VMO) vegetable factory that operated by the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) and the recent practice of Urban Farming by Hysan Development Company Limited would be the highlights of this sharing.
 
The sharing session is detailed as follows:        

Date:  12 October, 2013 (Saturday)
Time:  10:00 am to 12:00 noon (2 hours)
Venue: HKIP office, Unit 201,Prosperity Millennia Plaza, North Point
Targeted No. of Participants: 30 (First come first serve)
Fee : $15 (including tasting of organic vegetable)
 
Speakers: Dr. CHAN Lai-kiu Director of Design and Project, Hysan Development Company Limited
Dr. Chan has just completed the LEED and Beam Plus pre-certified Platinum project, Hysan Place.  She used to be a design director in P&T Architects and Engineers Ltd. and won many local and international awards for her projects. She was also the recipient of Hong Kong Young Architect Award.  Apart from work, she actively participates in community works and currently being the Vice Chairman of Hong Kong Architecture Centre.  She is also an artist, teacher and author of a few books.

Mr. CHAN Siu-lun Agricultural Officer (Horticulture), AFCD

Mr. Chan has given technical guidance to organic farmers on growing different varieties of vegetables and has tried growing new varieties on farms.  Part of his produces has become available in the local market.
