Abstract:
The housing policy of Singapore and Hong Kong are often compared in terms of their tenure policy, housing quality and their social, economic and political functions. This seminar critically compares the housing wellbeing (housing quality, affordability, community facilities and etc.) of the two cities as well as the housing-induced social development (e.g. tenure policy, welfare policy, social cohesion, inclusion). In particular, it discusses social planning and social development in new towns and residential neighbuorhoods (housing estates).
