Technical Tour to Camlux Hotel, Kowloon Bay (2 Dec 2018, Sunday)

The Education and Training Committee is collaborating with the Hide and Seek Tour (程尋香港) to organize a guided tour to the Camlux Hotel (君立酒店) in Kowloon Bay.  Hide and Seek Tour is a team which leads public tours in the city to promote the history, culture and conservation of Hong Kong, and the Camlux Hotel tour is one of its signature tours.

There were numerous factories and warehouses in the Kowloon Bay area, including “Wei Yit Vacuum Flask Manufactory” (唯一冷熱水壺廠) which manufactured the renowned Hong Kong brand “Camel” (駱駝牌) vacuum flasks.  Today, Kowloon Bay has transformed from an industrial area to an important business district in Kowloon East.  And the former Camel factory building is now converted into Camlux Hotel, the first hotel in Kowloon Bay.  Camlux Hotel was opened in 2017 and has incorporated the past life of Camel in its interior design, hotel furniture, lighting, etc.

With the guided tour led by Hide and Seek Tour, we hope members will find insights in this revitalisation project in terms of its adaptive reuse and heritage conservation.  An afternoon tea session will be included in this technical tour.  Details of the event are as follows:
