Seminar: Geodesign for Hong Kong’s Future Development

Rapidly ageing population coupled with soaring property price and strong demand in housing supply is one of the major issues in Hong Kong. Better planning alone cannot solve the roots of these social problems, a multidisciplinary approach is deemed essential to harness the best design and technology to enhance our quality of life.

The Young Planners Group is delighted to have Mr. Joe Liao to give us a seminar on his recent award winning proposal “100Hub” in the Dream City Award 2017 which the proposal identified 100 hectare (1 sq.km) of land within the borders of Hong Kong to accommodate 100,000 residents based on three core concepts i.e. 1) inter-generational living; 2) terraced farm/housing and, 3) eco-tech industry (梯田式跨代共居房屋). The seminar will also provide a further discussion on the way forward on the uses of GIS in shaping Hong Kong’s future development.
