Celebrating the 45th Anniversary, the Institute is honoured to bring you a precious opportunity to join the Hong Kong Planning Professionals’ Delegation to London, the capital city of United Kingdom, in April 2024. The Delegation is fully supported by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in London of the HKSAR Government and funded by the “Professionals Participation Subsidy Programme” (PSP) of the Commerce and Economic Development Bureau (CEDB) of the HKSAR Government.

The Institute would like to facilitate professional exchanges between our fellow members and the practising planners, planning students in London and members of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI), as well as enable our members to keep abreast of the latest planning issues and policies (including UK Planning Reforms and The London Plan 2021) and the infrastructures in London.

Under the PSP, (i) up to 90% of the actual cost of round-trip air ticket between Hong Kong and London or HKD$11,100 (whichever is the lower); and (ii) up to 90% of the actual hotel accommodation cost in London city centre (for 5 nights) or HKD$9,500 (whichever is the lower) (max. HKD$20,600) will be subsidised to each participating member of the Delegation, subject to the full attendance of the activities set out in the itinerary (see attached). The PSP subsidy will be provided on a reimbursement basis (usually within 4-6 months after the completion of the Delegation), upon provision of the valid receipts to CEDB. Please note that all other expenses (including local guided tours, in-town travel and meals in London) are borne by each participating member.

Period: 14 – 21 April 2024 (8 days)

Permitted Group Size: 30

Target Participants: HKIP Full or Fellow Members / R.P.P.s

Events: Topical Conferences/Seminars, Firm Visits, Infrastructure Visits, Walking Tours, Networking Sessions, etc. in London (Please refer to attachment for tentative programme rundown)

Registration Deadline: 30 January 2024 (Tuesday) 5:00pm (HKT)

Interested members are cordially invited to attend a briefing session to be held from 7:00pm to 7:45pm (HKT) on 16 January 2024 (Tuesday) via ZOOM, which will provide an overview of the Delegation, followed by a Q&A session. In the event of overwhelming responses from the members, a selection committee comprising a couple of HKIP Council members will be set up to be in charge of the selection process.
