The Hong Kong Institute of Planners (HKIP) Awards

Introduction

The Hong Kong Institute of Planners (HKIP) Awards are given annually to our members and related professionals in recognition of their outstanding achievements in town planning. Through the delivery of awards, we also wish to raise public awareness in good planning principles and practice, and to encourage pursuit of excellence amongst planners in Hong Kong.

Introduced in 2018, the Young Planners Awards (YPA) aim to encourage and honour active participation and contribution of our young planners to the planning profession in particular and community affairs in general, as well as to promote and foster professionalism, dedication and enthusiasm amongst themselves.

Enduring Value, Evolving Road

Over the last four years from 2017 to 2020, a total of 25 ‘Silver Awards’ and ‘Certificates of Merit’ have been given to a number of outstanding submissions, covering a wide spectrum of remarkable planning work in Hong Kong and elsewhere.  Delivery of the HKIP Awards has demonstrated how the town planners and our multi-disciplinary colleagues have engaged in the relentless pursuit of noble planning objectives and adoption of innovative, resilient and smart measures to create a better place to live and work.

Four brilliant and committed young planners have been awarded ‘Certificates of Outstanding Achievement’ since 2018 for their praiseworthy participation in and contribution to the professional and community affairs.   Their visions to planning and persistent endeavours to achieve personal and professional goals can serve as role models for other young planners.
