Impact Assessment Series: Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment

We covered the landscape aspects of planning in the last few One-Click issues. For transition into the new series on impact assessment, let’s start with Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment (LVIA). LVIA assists in identifying potential conflicts between development projects and the surrounding landscape. By proactively addressing these issues, LVIA can help resolving conflicts among various stakeholders. LVIA also supports long-term landscape sustainability by taking into account a development's potential impacts not only during the construction phase but also during its operational and post-operational stages. It helps to ensure that the landscape value remains resilient and adaptable during changing conditions.

The following videos show examples of the process of LVIA and how professionals assess and preserve important landscape features and incorporate landscaping and design elements that enhance the visual appeal.
