ETC event - 3 Jan 2026 (CLP Power Administrative Building)

The Education and Training Committee is launching a two-part series of visits featuring ‘Retracing Hong Kong History – Heritage and Conservation’ with guided tours and interactive exchanges with the concerned organisations.  You are invited to join the following visits to retrace part of the Hong Kong history, and experience the unique characters of those buildings and sites.

CLP Power Administrative Building

The China Light and Power (CLP) Administrative Building together with associated blocks were built between 1938 and 1940 at the intersection of Argyle Street and Waterloo Road. Recognised as a Grade 1 historical building since 2018, the clock tower has long been a defining feature of the district symbolising the headquarters of the CLP, the development of electricity supply in Hong Kong, and the connection of the Kadoorie Family with the local community.  The front elevation of the building is geometric with horizontal bands of windows where staircases are shaped in vertical cores.  Preserved and used as exhibition centre, the building complex has thematic exhibits for visitors to interact, reminisce and explore the past as to the future under the tale-telling clock tower.
